This is the trade name that Bayer Laboratories has given to AAS or Acetyl-Salicylic Acid. It is a salicylate, or a substance that is used to stop the production of certain natural substances that cause fever, pain, inflammation, and blood clots. It is obtained from willows, plants of the genus Salix (family Salicaceae). It was the first NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) to be marketed.
