Its name means place which belongs to epazote, Wormseed-filled. Place of much epazote. Epazote is a medicinal grass, which is also used as a condiment. It is very aromatic and has other common names: Paico, acahualillo, milpa tea. The scientific name of epazote or paico is Dysphania ambrosioides and is in the family Amaranthaceae.
