A combination of the English word grandmother and the Spanish word abuela to satisfy the Spanglish use of both words by latinx youth in the Southwest United States. Also used to appease the demands of women who refuse to he called solely grandma or abuela.
Synonyms of grañuela are  abuela grandma granny nana
 Used in US as well
