Plural of " feudal Lord ". It is who taxed to a feudal Lord in Exchange for land and protection. This regime was common in the European middle ages, and with other forms is kept to the present day; as in the case of tenants in the fields ( although today the vassalage is not legal, if it happens in too many places ).
