Medical term of Greek origin, lithos lithou ( 41 stone; and thrypto ( break, shatter ) term introduced by the French physician Jean Civiale, of the 19th century. This treatment is to shatter the kidney stones using ultrasonic waves called shock so that they can be expelled through the urine. They also call it ESWL for shock ( Endoscopic lithotripsy, ESWL ) laser lithotripsy. Two hours after the treatment the patient can go home. I think that this is the treatment have been applied to extraordinary Barça player Messi.
