Endosmosis: f. (FIS. and Quim. ) phenomenon that occurs almost invariably when an electromotive force is applied to electrodes placed on either side of a porous diaphragm submerged in water or other liquid. It consists of the appearance of a pressure difference on both sides of the septum, which determines a flow of liquid through.
