Meaning of trampantojo by furoya

furoya

trampantojo
  9

It is a painting and sculpting technique to create false textures, which simulate another material other than the one they cover. It is also used in architecture, scenography, and other disciplines to create three-dimensional illusions, simulating shapes and structures that are not real. It is the contraction of the phrase "trap before the eye", although in truth it would be the Spanish version of the French trompe-l'oeil ("deceive the eye").
