It's a Latin word that means Truth. Named after a Roman goddess, daughter of Saturn and Virtus (Virtue), she personified truth. He lived at the bottom of the sacred well. Sincerity, Truthfulness. Veritas, in Greek mythology, was equivalent to Aletheia. It is the name of an asteroid (490).
