Sad mood, with longing. It is a term that is also used in psychology, but its origin is in Hippocratic medicine where it is one of the four humors produced by the supposed 956; 949; 955; 945; 962; ( melas "black" ) 967; 959; 955; 951; (cholé "bile"), which Latin took as melancholia.
