The origin is not clear, and I suppose it depends on the place, since in America it can come from the Huichol where it means "fish", or from the Aymara michi which is "arrow"; As a European it may be French, where Miche is a "large round bread" (and also "a buttock"), or perhaps it has its origin in the Latin pronoun mihi ("for me") which is also used as an adjective.
