Colostrum The first milk the newborn takes from his mother's breast. Colostrum is composed of immunoglobulins, water, proteins, fats, carbohydrates and other components, having a consistency of yellow serous liquid, although its composition is not always exactly the same. It is produced by the mammary glands in the days before delivery and at the birth of the baby. The mammary glands are prepared for lactation producing PRECALOSTRUM during the gestation process.
