Meaning of hindú by furoya

furoya

hindú
  32

Who professes Hinduism ("philosophy and religion originated in India"). It is usually used in Spanish as an Indian ("gentilicio de India"), but it is a mistake that is made only to avoid confusion with the Native Americans, and that ends up creating a new one with the religious. Some more or less successful neologisms have appeared to save this problem, such as Hindu and Amerindian.
