music hall
  29

Type of popular show of music, dance and performance, also the theater where they are presented. It was common in England from the mid-nineteenth century until the mid-twentieth century, when it was losing popularity. The name comes from the musical shows that were performed in pubs and taverns in an adjoining hall, called hall ("room" ), where you entered by paying an entrance fee.
