It is one of the many common names that the wild poppy plant receives in Spain, especially in Navarre and Aragon. In other parts of Spain it is called rooster, nun, friar, altar boy, anapol, abibollo. Its scientific name is Papaver rhoeas and it belongs to the Papaveraceae family. It is a plant from which alkaloids are extracted.
