It was one of the names by which a King of Thessaly was known in Ancient Greece. He was also known as Eton (meaning voracious), Eresicton or Erisicton. He suffered from a voracious hunger for punishment from Démeter and was the father of Mestra. Another ancient Greek character, he had the same name and was known as Eresicton of Attica or Erisicton the Athenian, who was the son of King Cécrope of Athens and Aglaurus.
