THAMES navigable river of southern England, which passes through the cities of Oxford, Eton and what makes it most famous, London, to go to flow into the North Sea. Being the most important in England it fulfills the important task of supplying water to the city of London. Its name derives from its place of origin which is Thames head. In English his name is Thames.
