It is one of the common names given in Peru to a very large tree. It is common in warm areas of Central America, the Caribbean and South America. In Colombia we know it as ceibo, ceiba, bongo, bonga or ceiba bonga. In Bolivia it is called mapajo . In English it is called kapok. Its scientific name is Ceiba pentandra (in Colombia it is also used Bombax mompoxense which means ceiba or bonga of Mompox).
