PLEGUETE CHRIST synonymous adverbial locution of By Jesus Christ, used in the nineteenth century and before. It is found in the chosen comedies of Don Agustín Moreto y Cabaña (1828) where Tarugo says, to Don Pedro, regarding the door : "Open it, fold Christ, they kill me". A fold, diminutive fold, is a tendril or tingle of vines and other plants.
