LAGUNA LEAF in Mexico : thalia geniculata leaf of a plant that grows on the shores of lagoons or pops in Chiapas, Tabasco, and Veracruz. In the latter region it is used to wrap a cream cheese typical of the region so it is called cheese leaf and in other regions tamales are wrapped.
