It is one of the names of the Muscícapa grisola, a bird common in several regions of Spain in the summer, which feeds on insects hunted on the fly. The vulture is also called moscareta. There are other birds with this name in America, the most widespread being the culiamarilla muscat ( Myiobius sulphureipygius ) which is found from Mexico to Ecuador. The etymology is Valencian, where muixquereta is a derivative of muixca ( "fly" ).
