It's a type of Arabic script. It is used in religious writings and poetry. It is also widely used for writing in Javanese and Sudanese. In America it's a way to call a boxer who throws a lot of punches. Puncher. It hits a lot, it hits a lot of blows. Also in my land is called pegon or sticks to the dry or toasted part of a food that is over-cooked, to the point of drying. It is used mostly with rice.
