HYDROPEROXIDE These are chemical compounds that have a functional group O-O-H, which has a group R linked. If that group contains C then we have an organic hydroperoxide. If not, it is an inorganic compound. Organic peroxides is easy to initiate explosive polymerization in those products that have unsaturated bonds, thanks to the weakness of the O-O link that breaks easily. Hydroperxides are important in biology because many are biosynthesized from fatty acids, steroids and terpenes using enzymes.
