In Nahuatl language means scabies of the earth. It is one of the common names given to colorites in Mexico. They are also called coloradillas, chivacoas, chirotes, isangos. In Colombia we call them coloraditos , yayas or mismis . They are tiny mites of the Family Trombiculidae found in the paddocks where livestock abound. They produce an unbearable rasquiña.
