MAPURITO l mapurito or anamú ( Petiveria allicea ) is a plant found throughout South America, especially in the Antilles. In Cuba, a decoction of the entire plant is used in cases of cancer and diabetes. It is also used as an anti-inflammatory. Numerous biologically active compounds have been discovered in the anamú. It participates in the endocrine regulation of the adrenal glands, very important in different endocrine functions of the body such as water balance, inflammation or regulating blood glucose.
