It is the name of a tree in Chile and Argentina, which is also called chañar. Its scientific name is Lucuma spinoza and belongs to the Fabaceae family. It is also scientifically called Geoffroea decorticans by Moussy or Gourliea chilensis by Clos (synimias). It is frost resistant and has some medicinal uses.
