It is a plant genus of the family Passifloraceae. It is synonym of Thompsonia. Deidamia is a name of Greek origin woman. It is the name of an Opera by Handel. In Greek mythology was the name of several women: one was the daughter of Lycomedes; two others were of Epirus and another, also called Hippodamia, was considered the most beautiful woman of the time.
