It is the common name of a very fragrant plant of the Llanos Orientales de Colombia, which abounds in the savannas. Its scientific name is Mentha suaveolens and belongs to the family Lamiaceae (genus Mentha). It is toxic and abortifacient for livestock. It has medicinal uses in dose moderated to menstruation. Also referred to as it candar it. horehound, applemint, matapulgas.
