It is one of the forms in Mexico call the plant's scientific name Tagetes erecta of the family Asteraceae. Receives other names with indigenous roots as Campoal, due, cimpual, flower of the dead in Mexico. In Colombia we say Chinese Carnation. In Mexico they consume it in various ways. Botanically, it is a compound flower and the word comes from the term in language Nahuatl Cempohualli or Cempohual which means twenty ( Twenty flowers ).
