It is the name that is known as a trend in the early 20th century American diplomatic relations. The term originates from a phrase written by the President of United States, Theodore Roosevelt, in 1901, where he expressed his liking because the Committee of the party Republican of New York had expelled a corrupt Councillor. Applied to the United States policy in Latin America, the sentence showed that Roosevelt regime could put pressure on Latin American countries, particularly the coastal sea Caribbean to armed intervention.
