It is one of the common names of a European poisonous serpent or snake. They also say aspic, ASP, or ASP Viper. Its scientific name is Vipera aspis and belongs to the Viperidae family. It is wrong to tell you ASP, aspic or ASP to all snakes. There is also a snake called Cobra Egyptian or "ASP of Cleopatra". This species has the scientific name of Naja haje and belongs to the family Elapidae (isn't Viperidae).
