In botany it is the name of a genus of very primitive plants, which have the appearance of a palm tree or a fern. They are very old and already in the Mesozoic Era they were food for herbivorous dinosaurs. They belong to the family Zamiaceae. Also Zamia is a woman's name. Zamia means Pine Cone. The word is of Greek origin. There is also the name of woman Samia, of Arab origin, which means the exalted, the very high, elevated, sublime, supreme.
