Meaning of yagual

In Colombia it is one of the common names of a tree from the high Andean forests. It is also known as colorado, coloradito, paper tree, quinual, queñua, queñual. Its scientific name is Polylepis quiadrifuga and it belongs to the Rosaceae family. In Argentina it is called tabaquillo and in Bolivia lampaya and in Peru ingua. It has a very twisted trunk.

yagual: piece of cloth that Twining shaped circular of small size, which served for women carrying things heavy on the head.

Two meanings of yagual: " was a thread of cloth or other soft material, which is wrapped and given round shape which women wore it over his head, to load grain or fruit baskets, pitchers with water, stones, Griddles etc. the other esden: " It is a hoop of metal, such as the girdle of a barrel, or a ring of bejuco ( soft wood 41 stems; which then woven with wire, hemp, pita or thin ties; then hang it with a short loop, the beams of the House or kitchen, for storing foods such as dried meat, bread, chorisos, tortillas, tamales etc..to protect them from mice, this was more common in the countryside, where had not other ways to protect food.There are many places where still still use it the two meanings.
