The adjective montane Xeric or xerophytic, xerophyte or xerophytic ( Greek xero-: dry-fitos: plant, - edge: friend ) applies in Botany to the vegetation and plant associations specifically adapted to life in a dry medium or dry environments. I.e. plants adapted to the scarcity of water in the area in which they live, as the steppe or desert. Are found in regions climatically arid ( 41 deserts; and also in exceptionally dry environments of semi-arid or sub-humid regions
