It is a term in the English language and refers to a person who pretends or appears to be another. Aspire to be, aspiring, suitor. That imitates, imitator. Contraction of want to be. Name of a song by the Spice Girls.

It is not Spanish but English, but wannabe (Uanabí "imitator") is used in our language as a mockery for the tilingos, the "aspirational" who pretend to be of a higher social class, and who usually admire the American way of life (where it is spoken in English; I say, in case it needs to be clarified).
