VOLLEYBALL in Spanish VOLLEYBALL, volleyball or volleyball, Olympic sport of teams of 6 players that is played on a smooth court of 18x9 meters with a central net of a height higher than that of the players and that consists of making the ball cross to the opposite field with a maximum of three strokes in the game and one in the serve, trying to make the adversary unable to respond. A point is earned when the ball touches the opposing team's ground or if they throw it off the opposing field. Three or four sets of 25 points are played. There is a version of beach volleyball played in sand by two-player teams.
