The varano term does not exist in Spanish. Barano is a row of hay just guadañado and arranged on the floor. Each of the cuts on the scythe hay. It is possible that they wanted to ask about Varano. In this case it is a lizard-like reptile. The giant Varano is the same Komodo Dragon.
