In Colombia and Ecuador it is the name of a type of palm tree that is used in the elaboration of handicrafts and also from which an oil of medicinal uses is extracted. It also receives the common names of unamo, palma de seje, majo, milpesos and patabá. Its scientific name is Jessenia polycarpia (or also Oenocarpus bataua). It belongs to the family Arecaceae.
