It is the Inuktitut name of origin for the canoe also known as konebaad, which is not necessarily for a woman, although it does have some relation to the Inuk's wife.
It is a type of boat of the Inuits or Eskimos. It is also called Umiaq or Oomiak. It means "woman's boat", boat for women. It is the anonymity of Kayac, Kaiac or Kaiak which means "man's boat".
Umiak : Eskimo boat of about 10 m. long for 3 m. approximately wide, manned by women who propel it with wide zaguales.
