It was also called Tindareo or Tindáreo. In Greek mythology it was the name of a King of Sparta. In some texts he is listed as the son of the nymph Naiad Batia and the Spartan king Ebbalus, although in others he appears as the son of the Messenian king Perieres (thus grandson of Aeolus) and Gorgophone, daughter of Perseus.
