Ortiz has proposed the adoption of this term to replace concepts acculturation and desculturacion describing the transfer of culture held in a reductionist manner, imagined from the matrix of the interests of the metropolis.The dictionary of the Royal Academy of the Spanish language, defines this term as: "Reception by a village or social group of forms of culture from another, which replaced in a way more or less complete at own ".
