TITANIC etymologically 'titanic' referring to the Titans of Olympus, from Greek mythology. Ocean liner that hit an iceberg and sank on its first voyage, going from Southampton to New York. She sailed on 10 April 1912 and sank the night between 14 and 15, in the Newfoundland region, two days before reaching port.
