tepemechín . ( Of the nahua mount, and michín , tépetl , fish). 1. m. C. Rica , El Salva and Hond. Freshwater fish of tropical America, elongated and cylindrical, with large, terminal mouth and long snout, predorsal convex profile and slightly bulging neck. The back is greyish olive, with a superimposed black lattice. The sides are silver, with a dark lattice and Pearl white belly. It is found in torrentosas and rapid waters. Their meat is edible.
