SÍNDIC recent institution of Catalonia, but that has its origins in the medieval era, such as the Assemblies of Peace and Truce or the provisors of greuges. The Ombudsman has its roots in the Swedish institution of the Ombudsman, created in 1809 as a parliamentary commissioner charged with receiving complaints from citizens. This is what we call the Ombudsman.
