Old-fashioned form of arrogant. It means that it is noticed, that it stands out. In botany it means that it is above (antonym of inferno, which is below). It is used more super.

An old word for "arrogant", in its meanings of "superior, magnificent" and "arrogant, vain". It is a Latin construction taking a super ("better, elevated") with the addition of a suffix -bus inspired by other adjectives such as probus, a, um ("probo").
