It is a very toxic substance found in plants of the genus Solanum and the Solanaceae family. It is very toxic even in small amounts. It is found in potato, green tomato, potato, belladonna and eggegg. A toxic, bitter-tasting glycoalkaloid whose largest component is the alkaloid known as solanidine.
