It means yellow jilguero, canary, yellowillito. It is the name of a genus of birds that belongs to the family Thraupidae. It comes from the Greek word Sikalis or Sukalis, yellow bird dun name in Ancient Greece. It was yellow with a little black head. In Colombia we also call them Sabbath canaries.
