It is the name of a breed of dogs of German origin. The word in German, means snout or also moustache, which are some of the physical characteristics of the breed mentioned, as well as the beard it presents. It is also called a mouser for its special rodent-hunting feature.



SCHNAUZER Germanism that comes from schnauze, HOCICO, rekacionadk with SCHNAUZBART, schnauze beard, and SCHNURBART, moustache, because his beard starts at the top of his snout. Its origins date back to the s. XV in Wurtemberg, Germany.
