salicin . ( Of the lat. ) (salix icis, Willow) . 1. f. Glycoside crystallizable, white color, taste very bitter, soluble in water and alcohol and insoluble in ether. He is mainly removed by digestion in water boiling the bark of the willow or the tops of the Queen of the meadows, and is used in medicine as a tonic.
