It is the diminutive of rota, which comes from Latin, from the word "rupta". Thus, it refers to a route, a path or an open access. Hence the rotilla names were given to open roads, especially land accessible beaches for Spanish sailors.

It is the name of a town and a beach in Cuba, where an electronic music festival was held. It remains in the Municipality of Santa Cruz del Norte in the Province of Mayabaque (formerly of the Province of Havana). Currently these are held on Jibacoa beach. Route diminutive . Very short route.
