Sorrel . ( Of the lat. )( rumex, - icis ). 1. f. perennial herb of the family of the PoligonĂ¡ceas, with stem gnarled, red, of six to eight decimetres of tall, leaves alternate, envainadoras, oblong, sharper the upper to the lower, and embodied nerves, flowers without peduncle in tight whorls, dry fruit with a single seed hard and triangular, and root thick of Brown bark and yellow interior with blood streaks. It is common in Spain, the leaves are eaten in soup, and the BREW of the root has been used as a tonic and laxative.
